Don Doggett presents: Promoting Academic Achievement Through Collaboration: Leadership Matters

Through guiding questions and story-telling, participants will explore how to create the right set of circumstances to work with students and families living in poverty. Teacher leadership as well as administrative opportunities are critical to increasing student achievement with this unique population and as participants participate in a chat room, real world strategies will be shared. Finally, looking ahead to schooling in the fall, ways to introduce and take care of the SEL needs students and families living in poverty will be shared.

Don Doggett

Don D. Doggett is the Principal SEA (South Carolina) Liaison for the Region 6 Comprehensive Center at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, SERVE Center. Prior to becoming Principal SEA Liaison, Mr. Doggett worked as a Director of an Early Head Start Community Partnership Grant, and as Superintendent of Schools in McCormick County, South Carolina. As a former Senior Technical Assistance Consultant at SEDL (formerly the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory) at the American Institutes for Research. Mr. Doggett worked to build the capacity of several divisions of the South Carolina Department of Education.

Mr. Doggett has served as a turnaround principal of two elementary schools during the 2008-2010 school years. He has worked in urban and rural parts of the state. His educational career includes serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, a technology consultant in Columbia, SC for a US Dept. of Education Technology Grant, and as an assistant principal.

Mr. Doggett sought to make sure that students in his rural district graduated college and career-ready and sought partnerships to ensure the opportunities for students to reach their full potential are embraced and realized were provided to all students in the district.

Working to develop a vision for an integrated community approach to deliver high-quality education for all children, Mr. Doggett is linking all available resources, programs, and curriculum enhancements to support students and teachers in various counties of the state as a consultant for ALL4SC.
