This session will focus on the key components of an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and detail how to determine the least restrictive environment for a student with a disability. Participants will gain knowledge in how to choose appropriate accommodations to assist in making students successful in a general education classroom.

Cindi Nixon

Cindi Allen Nixon, Ph.D. is a Professor and Associate of Education at Francis Marion University. She also serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Education and the S.C. Create site director at the university. She was a classroom teacher for over 10 years in West Virginia where she received both her master's and Doctorate degree from West Virginia University. Cindi is a Past President for the National Division on Career Development and Transition. Cindi was employed as the Special Education Director for Richland School District Two before joining FMU. She is currently a Program Consultant for TASC working directly with school districts in the areas of dropout prevention and increasing graduation outcomes for youth with disabilities.
