Diane Carter

My name is Diane Carter. I reside in Lake City, South Carolina and have been teaching for 23 years. Presently, I teach 6th Grade ELA and am certified in Elementary Education and with a Masters in Instructional Accommodation from Francis Marion University. I believe that each child is a unique individual needing a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As an educator, I desire to assist students in recognizing their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, creative, and inviting. Elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment are guidance, respect and healthy curiosity for all things and all people.

Sara Beth Dew

My name is Sara Beth Dew. I am from Dallas, Texas, by way of Richmond County, North Carolina. Right now, my sons and I live in Dillon County and commute to Florence 3 daily. I have been teaching Art for 10 years and ELA for
three. Presently, I teach high school and middle school Art and 7th Grade ELA. My PhD is in Art Education from the
University of North Texas. While I am certified in ELA, my desire is to put together curriculum that aligns with the
instructional needs of our students. I believe educators must never stop being a student at heart. We have to constantly seek ways to learn how to grow and change in order to keep up with everything evolving around us. Our desire should aim to educate today’s children for tomorrow’s world. We have to learn how to create relevancy and purpose in our classroom to make education possible all learning levels. We have to be the change that we want to see in this world, and that change starts with us, in our classroom.

Catrina Filyaw

My name is Catrina Filyaw and I live in Lake City, South Carolina. This school year marks my 22nd year in  education! Although I have my BA from Francis Marion University and my Masters in Technology from Lesley
University, I am presently the Literacy Coach at J Paul Truluck Creative Arts and Science Magnet School. I believe things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out. I challenge my students and staff to cultivate this mindset as they encounter challenges throughout the school day. My goal is to ensure safety, security, and support within the learning process. Making sure students, and staff, perform at their highest level to better the world of tomorrow.
