Victoria Bradley and Vivian Ann Shaver present: Continuous Improvement in Schools

This workshop provides an overview of our implementation of Continuous Improvement strategies in the ‘Four Highest Poverty Schools’ in Spartanburg County, SC. It will focus on the strategies employed including training and coaching as well as the early results to improve ‘early grade reading’. Learn from those working closest to the result how CI has been used in their daily work to improve systems and practices that will add up to big differences for improved results.

Victoria Bradley

Victoria Bradley is Assistant Principal & Continuous Improvement Coach at Mary H. Wright Elementary School.  She is originally from the central coast area of California.  After finishing the Associates Degree, she enlisted in the US Army to earn funds to finish college.  She completed her degree at the University of South Carolina (Aiken) in Elementary Education and was a classroom teacher for 23 years before becoming an Instructional Coach.  A year later, she began the journey as a Continuous Improvement Coach.   Victoria lives in Duncan, South Carolina with her husband and two daughters, Kimberly and Cassidy.  


Vivian Ann Shaver

Vivian Ann Shaver  is employed by Spartanburg Academic Movement and John T. Wardlaw Institute for Continuous Improvement as a trainer and coach.  Prior to working at SAM, she worked in industry as a Project Manager in Research & Development where CI practices were implemented

Vivian Ann is a scientist, and not an educator by training, but the passion for education is in her blood!  Her mom has served as an educator and administrator for nearly 40 years in Virginia, and has passed along those values and learnings.  She has also served on PTO and School Improvement Councils in Spartanburg District 5 Schools.

Outside of her work at SAM, Vivian Ann also serve at Lyman United Methodist Church as the Director of Congregational Care and Youth.

Vivian Ann is married to Brad Shaver who is an Area Manager for Helena Chemical Company and they have 2 children; Rex, a 13 year old at Florence Chapel Middle School and Analee, an 11 year old at Berry Shoals Intermediate School.


Mendy Mossbrook

Mendy serves as Director of the John T. Wardlaw Institute for Continuous Improvement (CI), launched in 2018. The Institute trains local educators and leaders of nonprofits and agencies in Spartanburg County supporting children, to embed CI strategies into their operations. 

Mendy, a long-time Spartanburg County resident, also leads STEM career outreach programs with the Society of Plastics Engineers. 

Mendy earned both her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Masters of Business Administration from Clemson University. She holds certifications in Project Management and New Product Development. Mendy worked in industry over 20 years prior to coming to SAM and was previously employed as Executive Director of New Business Development as well Director of Process Engineering and Product Development for Sealed Air Corporation.

Mendy lives in Woodruff, SC with my husband who is a manager at Milliken & Company, and three children:  Will at Clemson University, Jacob at College of Charleston, and Ella at Spartanburg Preparatory School.
