Kimberly Entzminger presents: Applying Research to Practice: Instructional Strategies That Actually Work for All Children
Over the last 40 plus years, reading scores in the SC and across the US have shown that we are not doing enough to ensure that students become proficient readers. When we examine data related to children of poverty, the outlook is even more bleak. However, by leveraging high impact strategies and basing our instruction on models that non-biased, empirical research has shown actually result in high, sustainable gains, we can turn the tide. Unfortunately this research often gets lost in translation. This session will explore some of that research and show how one school is closing the gap to ensure that all students are college and career ready. Participants will leave this session with a basic understanding of: 1. The Science of Reading, 2. Ideas for utilizing solid research based instruction. 3. The importance of early intervention. 4. How to meet the requirements of Read to Succeed.
